I met MIchael recently and after listening to him recant some local history, I decided to give his latest book a try.
I hadn't read a ghost/spirit based book in decades. To those of us in the Houston/Galveston area, the book puts us in a familiar place immediately. Michael's descriptions of history and geography made me look at Houston and Galveston through a new eyes. His characters were nicely developed and you actually know these people. His weaving of history and story telling made for a truly enjoyable read. I am a history buff and learned plenty while being riveted by the story line. This is definitely a book you will look forward to picking up again! I was sad to put it down on several occasions!

I really enjoyed the story,very intriguing. Very well written, once started it just held me until I finished the final chapter. Thumbs up for sure!
Scary read! Good attention to detail and well set with an eye to historic events. If you are into this type of material, you will enjoy this book.
Great read! Swanson weaves the present and the past into a gripping and suspensful thriller. His eye for detail is uncanny and his account and story link to the Great Storm of 1900 is very well done. Felt like I was there!
If you love history and a good mystery this is the book for you. Mike writes in such a way as to make you feel as if you are right there in the middle of everything. He uses his words to make smells and feelings come to life, and if you know anything about Houston you can imagine yourself right in these locations. Once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down!!
First, my back was sweating. Then, the sweat turned icy and it felt like bone cold fingers were gripping my spine. Angel Baby has that kind of effect. It grabs you, compels you to read on, to keep going - even against your own will.

It all starts when a baby dead a century turns up on the beach. Who is it? What is it? How did it get there? Is in divine or devilish? Will the DA ever get to the bottom of the mystery, or will the law be trampled on - as time itself seems to have been bent out of shape, corrupted, crippled. The action moves across the years from New Orleans to Galveston on a heart racing chase that put me into a fever. Wear an undershirt before you open the covers. And sleep with the light on.
If you are a history buff or a fan of horror thrillers, this is the book for you. As a resident of Houston since childhood, I found myself recognizing every place the story moved...including the house on Hempstead Road, which I have always been fascinated by....wondering who lived there. Michael Swanson has taken a story we in the Houston area are all familiar with...the tragic death of a child...and blended it with our local history....the 1900 storm in Galveston....and given us a truly thrilling ride with many twists and turns.
Best scary book I've read in years! Grabs you in from the first page. Couldn't put it down! I'd rate it a 10 star but that wasn't a option ... 5 +++++ rating
